Shelter

Shelter
About

In one of the buildings in the city of Kyiv, we created a concept of a safe space resembling a parking area, using elements of metal and concrete to give it a modern and industrial look.

The main idea was to create a reliable and pleasant place for citizens to stay in safety. The space was divided into zones to provide comfortable accommodations for people of all age groups, including children, adults, and the elderly.

At the entrance of the shelter, there is a metal locker where personal belongings can be stored. The next room is the largest and contains a kitchen with tables and benches that can be used as dining tables or for other activities. Portable lamps are placed on each of these tables for additional lighting, creating a cozier atmosphere.

The shelter has two accessible entrances, making it convenient for use. Upon entering the shelter, you will encounter clear floor navigation, including color-coded arrows and labels to help you navigate and find the appropriate room.

The interior design includes comfortable furniture and stylish details to make people feel at ease and engaged while taking shelter during emergencies.

The design was created using soft and light shades of gray with color accents on the floor. Gray and white are simple and neutral colors that don't distract attention and allow for the perception of other important elements. This color scheme harmoniously combines with the vibrant accents in the space, specifically designed to attract attention.

The shelter also features a separate children's room where they can play, have fun, and learn. The room is equipped with a study desk, resting beds for children, play areas with safe toys, and a drawing board. This environment helps children to distract and calm down.

Inside the shelter, there is a separate relaxation room. The room is equipped with comfortable benches for seating, and during extended stays, there is the option to create sleeping areas using folding beds. The room also includes a projector for movie viewing, providing additional comfort and entertainment for the residents.

The parking-style basement shelter can become a cozy and functional space where every resident of the building can find convenient conditions for long-term stay, relaxation, play, work, and socializing.
